How to Choose a Radiators If You’re Short on Space

In general, the larger the room, the bigger the radiator needs to be. However, this isn’t always
possible to achieve. If you cannot match the heat output to the size of the room because you are limited on space, then you need to consider doing one of the following:

1.    Buy compact radiators. These are more expensive than traditional radiators because they are better engineered and often have a greater amount of technology. They are ideal for larger rooms where space is at a premium because they provide as much space as the larger units, but take up much less room. However, as we said above, compact radiators do tend to be expensive.

2.    Buy vertical radiators. A common strategy for overcoming the problem of space is to buy a radiator that is taller than it is long. These radiators are called vertical radiators. They have as much surface area as the horizontal radiators, but they take up less useable wall space. The only problem to watch out for here is that they don’t produce quite as much valuable heat. This is because hot air rises, so some of the heat sits near the ceiling, rather than floating up. If the room is well insulation, though, this should not pose too much of a problem.

3.    Buy overhead electric heaters. Finally, you can buy electric heaters that you hang high on the wall, and, which blow down into the room. They’re not always the most attractive of units, but they are a great solution when lacking space. Nowadays, you can buy long horizontal heaters that practically blend into the wall. They sort of look like skirting boards, but up near the ceiling. You could fit them at the foot of the room too, but this might be problematic depending on the exact issue of your space requirements, i.e. they might still take up too much room.
