No Need To Cast Around For Radiators

The Victorians were the first to install radiators in their homes but only those with plenty of money. The rest of the general population had to wait until easy credit was offered in the nineteen–seventies.

When Angled Valves Should Be Used

In the heating world there are three different valves that can be used to connect radiators to the heating system.  These are angled valvesor straight, the thermostatic or manual valve and different sizes to fit them.

The size depends on the connections that your system uses.  This means the circumference of the piping. If you are buying new radiators, it makes sense to buy two valves for each as every heater needs two valves at both ends.

You would use angled valves when the connection needs to be made to a pipe that sticks out of the same wall where the radiator is to be placed.

Most of the designer radiators, such as bathroom heaters have connections at the bottom that are angled horizontally and straight to the wall.  These angled valves are often beautifully crafted to blend in with the designer features of your radiator.  They are no longer ugly connections, but a feature of the overall design.

Thermostatic valves are used to control the temperature in each individual room.  They are fitted at one end of the radiator where the water flows in when it is being circulated by your boiler. Most homes have these now as they are an effective way to reduce heating bills.

They are especially helpful if you have rooms that get the sun most of the day.  In the daytime the sun will warm your rooms and the thermostatic valve can be turned down or shut off completely.

If you want a thermostatic valve fitted in on your bathroom towel radiator, you would probably be best off to have a manual valve fitted.  You can then control heat when the bathroom is being used. Thermostatic valves are best fitted by a qualified plumber.

When you are looking to upgrade your radiators, you will find that retailers on the internet do also sell accessories such as valves.  Although you cannot touch them online, there is always a helpline for people who need advice.

The Case for These Is Cast Iron

When we say something is cast iron it usually means it’s a certainty. It’s often used to describe the likely outcome of a legal case where the evidence for or against is irrefutable.

Cheap Radiators are Basic Not Inferior

If you are going to replace some of your radiators, now is the time to do it. You do not need central heating right now so the inconvenience of having to turn your system off for a day is no hardship.

Start From Scratch and Fit New Radiators

Redecorating a room or better still the whole home can be a very satisfying exercise. But it can also be a little disappointing when the old carpets and furniture are put back into place.

All You Need To Know About Heating Valves

These days our modern heating system is all about controls to keep your home heated according to your needs in every room. For this radiator valves have made their appearance and they are increasingly efficient in saving fuel.

If you run a conventional system that runs on water filled pipes from your boiler it advisable to have a boiler thermostat, a wall thermostat and adjustable thermostatic radiator valves. The latter are called TVRs in the trade.

Ware talking about the valves on your radiators today and you need to understand that they do not control your boiler, but the room temperature in which they are fitted. They are just an added control system that you can regulate yourself.

These valves will shut themselves down if the temperature in a particular room reaches the temperature you have set for it. Once the room has cooled to below that temperature they will switch themselves on again.

This will give you complete zone control. You can save on utility bills by heating your living area to a higher degree and to a lesser temperature in bedrooms and guestrooms. If your living area benefits from double glazing and has a southerly aspect, you will certainly be able to save even further.
The reason you need a wall thermostat is that you can programme your heating system to come on at set times.  It is foolish to keep it running when the children are at school and you are working. You are able to choose a time before everybody returns to the roost. Your home will be nice and cosy when everyone comes back.

You will have to make sure that the time is set correctly before you programme your heating requirements. Unlike computers who adjust the time when the clocks change, you will have to alter this part yourself.

Once you have set all your controls you need not worry about the weather outside. When it gets colder your rooms will still be heated according to the settings you have chosen.

What Are the Advantages of A Heated Towel Radiator?

In bathrooms and utility rooms, whether you’re installing electric towel radiators, dual fuel towel radiators, or central heating towel radiators, there are some advantages that just can’t be matched by a traditional panel or column radiators. Here, we’re going to look at the various advantages of towel radiators. By the time you reach the end of this article, you’ll wonder why you didn’t buy one years ago!

Warm Towels
The cardinal rule is ‘don’t forget your towel’, but how great would it be if, as well as remembering your towel, it’s also roasty toasty warm. On a cold winter’s day, there is nothing better than getting out of the bath or shower, and getting straight into a warm towel. It’s one of life’s little luxuries.

Clean Towels
As well as making sure that you can keep warm after your shower, a heated towel rail will also help to keep your towels clean. It does this by enabling them to dry much quicker than they would over a banister, door or even a non-heated towel rail. This means that it prevents the built up of mould and mildew, which produces that musty smell that towels get after a while. Electric towel radiators will keep your towels fresher for longer.

Warm Bathroom
Heated towel rails act as radiators for the bathroom. Because they usually have a chrome, stainless steel or aluminium finish, they are much more conductive than normal radiators. They release heat much faster. This would be a bad thing normally, because it would cost more to keep the radiator warm. However, the towels act as insulation, making the radiators efficient. That’s why they usually come in a shiny material, to accommodate for the additional insulation that happens when you hang towels on the radiator.

There Is No Compromise on Quality Buying These Radiators

Kermi radiators have been in business for 40 years or so and they are a German company that is very well respected for its high standards in manufacture.

All their coloured radiators have been cathode dipped to produce a finish that will never need painting. Because of this process white heaters will not fade or discolour, giving you years of sparkling service.

They produce heaters for living areas as well as kitchen and bathroom towel radiators.  Their different products are all very stylish and like most modern heaters they are energy efficient.  They will keep your home warm and comfortable throughout the winter months as well as fitting in effortlessly with your decor.

It seems that the majority of their designs are made for towel hanging in bathrooms.  These have become very popular with the public as they take up little space.  They will heat your bathroom, as well as you kitchen, whilst also drying your kitchen and bathroom towels.

My particular favourite is the Ideos which is a truly innovative bathroom design which can hang many different towels.  They are produced in many different painted finishes.  They are available in several sizes.  You need to remember that if you buy one of those, accessories such as the valves needed are not included in the price. This particular heater will also look fabulous in a contemporary bedroom.

Towel heaters do provide adequate heat in a bathroom and most of the time there is no need for a traditional radiator unless your bathroom is large.  In this case you will probably have enough room to have extra heating installed.

It is always sensible to try and keep your bathroom heating systems free of damp as this will prolong the life of your radiator.  I understand that this is a challenge in a damp environment, but it is really important advice as this will prevent marks from forming on the paintwork.

Your best bet is to buy radiators on the internet as there is a vast selection to choose from at good prices.

Online Radiator Shopping Can Be Very Rewarding

Online shopping has become the phenomenon of our modern age.  Everything can be bought on the internet and you can now buy radiators online too. The question is whether with goods such as these there will be enough back up from the retailers in fitting heaters if old ones need to be replaced, especially if you plan to do the work yourself.

Any self-respecting retailer should have a helpline number prominently displayed so that if customers have any questions, there is advice on the other end of the telephone.

You could also have a look if the supplier does fit radiators for you. Sometimes they have affiliated businesses such as a plumbing or central heating where, when you have chosen your heaters, they can come and fit them for you.

It is often more sensible to get the professionals in to do the job for you as so many things can go wrong.  For instance, if pipes are not joined up properly you can end up with numerous leaks which is always distressing.

Shopping on line gives you so much more choice in styles. Almost certainly retailers on the internet will not have everything in stock, but they have supply lines organised and the goods will be with you in a matter of days. Some retailers will also give you delivery periods where some items take longer to reach you than others.

There are so many superb styles in radiators available to you that the choice is really bewildering. Bona fide online retailers will make it easy for you to choose the right size merchandise to keep your home well heated without any strain on the boiler to keep up.

One really handy extra they offer you is a calculator to work out exactly what BTU you need for every room.  It will take some mathematics, but using this device will be worth your while for a satisfactory outcome.

Having looked around on the internet it seems that the majority of people are satisfied with buying radiators this way.  You should just be careful to choose the right supplier.
